Botany: eucalyptus identification

Self-tutoring about tree identification: the tutor encounters a eucalyptus.

In Nanaimo, the abundance of exotic trees always impresses me. I’ve noticed a eucalyptus along the route to work.

The eucalyptus tree has blue-green leaves, with smooth, light coloured bark that you might describe as grey. Yet, parts of the bark are yellow.

The leaves are a few inches long, and pointed elliptical. Each hangs from a thin stalk.

The tree is quite large, perhaps 50 feet tall, with limbs that reach over the sidewalk from deep in the yard.
