Electronic lifestyle: Google Meet

Self-tutoring about meeting apps: the tutor mentions one.

I used Google Meet for the first time today; it worked great.

A different meeting program crashed during a session, so I brought my client to Google Meet. The login was quick; this is how I remember it:

Logging into gmail, the option to start a meeting is down the left column — very straightforward (and to quote Bruno Mars, “That’s what I like!”). I just clicked “Start a meeting”, and everything else was as obvious. I seem to remember being asked for permission for the app to use the camera and microphone, and for it to operate on the browser I was using. I was asked to invite someone to the meeting, so just typed their gmail address in a textbox, then clicked Send (or it might have been “Send invite”–something like that). They received the email at their end and joined the meeting. First I saw their icon; within a minute they had activated their camera and mike. Thence, the meeting continued without a hitch.

The meeting app I was using before – I uninstalled it. I’m planning to use Meet from now on for my one-on-one sessions.

Thanks, Google!
