English: expressions: more or less

Tutoring English, the literal meaning of a word or phrase is important. The tutor opines about the expression “more or less.”

Here is my definition of the expression “more or less”:

more or less (adverb): true for practical purposes, if not absolutely.

She drinks just one glass of wine per week; she’s quit drinking, more or less.

I looked up more or less in a few dictionaries, but failed to find it. Yet, it’s an expression some people use with great meaning.
