Music: reminiscences: “Amos Moses,” by Jerry Reed
Self-tutoring about music: the tutor discovers a song from his elementary school years….
Once, in PE in grade 5, our teacher set a dance for us to learn. We’d never done such activity.
He set the record on the turntable. Through the big, crackly speakers came some banjo, the start of a country song. Soon lyrics began: all I could recognize was that someone was “livin’ in a swamp.”
The dance turned out to be okay – in fact, that PE class was memorably enjoyable. As years passed, I wondered…what song had the teacher played?
The other day I keyed something like “country song about living in a swamp” into Google. Up came Amos Moses by Jerry Reed. I’m sure it’s the song!
