Trade: Iran with Venezuela: why is the US mentioned?

Self-tutoring about international trade: the tutor mentions an interesting situation.

Apparently, Iran and Venezuela have come to a deal: Venezuelan heavy crude for Iranian diluting agents. The diluting agents from Iran will be used to thin Venezuelan oil into lighter, more expensive grades. The trade benefits both parties, the way trade is meant to.

What’s mysterious is why the USA is even mentioned in the article: why would it be the business of the United States if Iran and Venezuela are trading?
