The tutor comments on a possibly surprising characteristic of Python.<\/h1>\n

Unlike Perl or Java, Python doesn’t use semicolons at the end of statements. Furthermore, it doesn’t use braces around loops. A loop body is indicated by indentation:

\nfor i in range(3):
\n   print(“Hello, “)
\n   print(“how are you?”)
\n   print(“\\n”)
\nprint(“Cheers:)”)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

yields the output<\/p>\n


\nHello,
\nhow are you?
\nHello,
\nhow are you?
\nHello,
\nhow are you?
\nCheers:)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Notice that the indented print<\/span> statements are executed each pass through the loop, while the non-indented print<\/span> statement is only executed once.<\/p>\n

Python’s sparse use of punctuation might surprise programmers from other languages:)<\/p>\n
