However, this particular one deserves its own; most people just don&#8217;t like it. \u00a0Let&#8217;s discover it&#8217;s really not so bad.<\/p>\n<p>Rule:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/negex.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Example:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/negex0.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Notice the fraction version:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/negexfrc.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Example:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/negex1.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A consequence of this rule is that a negative power, if on the bottom, can be moved to the top and made positive:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/negexrv.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Example:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/negex2.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The rule needs to be followed literally. Like most rules in math, it often doesn&#8217;t lead to the final answer. Rather, it normally occurs as a step on the way to the final answer.
