For weeks I’ve been studying a plant in the yard, trying to make an ID. The plant in question consists of several stems that seem connected. They are ankle height, with leaves in round clusters that occur frequently. The stems are finely hairy.<\/p>\n
Everything about the plant is small. The leaves are a few mm long; one or two might be up to 8mm. The stems are about 10cm tall.<\/p>\n
At first glance, the plant resembles a family member of pea or maybe pink. Around it grow vetch and hop-clover, two members of the pea family. However, the guide shows no member of pea that matches it.<\/p>\n
A couple of days back the plant suddenly flowered: small blue flowers, maybe 3mm across. They are so small that I got a magnifying glass to look at them, though it didn’t help much.<\/p>\n
The guide mentions small-flowered forget-me-not, but without a picture. For the vast majority of plants, the guide has a picture. However, surprisingly often, it seems, a plant I find might be one that doesn’t.<\/p>\n
I looked up small-flowered forget me not on Google. From some of the pictures there, plus the description in the guide, I conclude, indeed, that’s the plant.<\/p>\n
