After installation, it chemically absorbs CO<sub>2<\/sub>, thereby transforming to calcium carbonate (CaCO<sub>3<\/sub>).  Water is liberated.<\/p>\n<p>Calcium carbonate is about 1\/100 as soluble as calcium hydroxide.
