Marx and Lenin both believed that capitalism enriches the owning class at the expense of those who actually create the wealth – the workers. They both believed that capitalism’s logical successor would be communism or socialism, depending on the definition.<\/p>\n
Marx thought that the destruction of capitalism is inevitable and will happen by a spontaneous revolution of the workers. Lenin, however, didn’t believe the revolution would be successful unless planned and led by an organized, sophisticated revolutionary movement.<\/p>\n
Not surprisingly, the idea of central planning defined Russia’s expression of Communism.<\/p>\n
