\nI decided to look further. My reading suggests that while not physically addictive, anabolic steroids can easily be psychologically addictive: a user can feel “high” if they see fast progress in their appearance. They want to keep going with that, so they want to keep taking the anabolic steroids. If they feel their progress is linked to the steroids, but stop taking them, they may feel depressed as they fear their body will “backslide” to a physique they’re trying to escape. Therefore, they “have to have” the anabolic steroids.<\/p>\n
I’ve heard that many users take anabolic steroids in “cycles” – in fact, that seems the most common way people use them. “Cycling” might mean six weeks on them, then six weeks break, for instance. In such a case, the user seems not to be addicted to the anabolic steroids.<\/p>\n
In any case, anabolic steroids outside of medical prescription are illegal in Canada. Moreover, they have myriad side effects which would scare a rational person away.<\/p>\n
