\nI’ve written a couple of posts about varied thrush, a year-round resident on Vancouver Island. Possibly similar to the Steller’s jay, the varied thrush is more visible certain times of year, as opposed to others, even though it doesn’t migrate.<\/p>\n
Here, the varied thrush is often seen (and heard) from late winter through spring. Today, a great specimen appeared outside atop a low tree. My wife noted its handsome orange breast framed by a black collar, then its blue back. It’s a beautiful bird, seen up close. The one we saw today seemed a bit bigger than a robin.<\/p>\n
I haven’t heard one, yet, though I’m listening for them. Hopefully soon:)<\/p>\n
