Possibly similar to the Steller&#8217;s jay, the varied thrush is more visible certain times of year, as opposed to others, even though it doesn&#8217;t migrate.<\/p>\n<p>Here, the varied thrush is often seen (and heard) from late winter through spring. Today, a great specimen appeared outside atop a low tree. My wife noted its handsome orange breast framed by a black collar, then its blue back. It&#8217;s a beautiful bird, seen up close. The one we saw today seemed a bit bigger than a robin.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t heard one, yet, though I&#8217;m listening for them.
