Sometimes, suddenly, the chuck can be much harder to loosen: it gets jammed. I’ve always managed to loosen it somehow, but yesterday, I finally hit a case where I couldn’t. I was in mid-repair, which was going well, and needed to continue.<\/p>\n
Notice: you should always unplug a power tool before attempting to fix it.<\/p>\n
The trick I discovered was to clamp something around the drill bit, then gently tap down on that with a light hammer, in the direction of removing the drill bit. Eventually the bit did come out, and the chuck was loose again. I was able to replace the bit with the next one I needed.<\/p>\n
