I&#8217;d call Woolworths a department store; others might call it a variety store. They were big stores, with lots of different sections &#8211; a shopper&#8217;s haven.<\/p>\n<p>\nI always thought that Woolworths was Brit, but no: it was Yank, originating in New York and Pennsylvania. Believe it or not, the Woolworth building, New York City, was the tallest office building in the world (60 storeys), 1913-1930.<\/p>\n<p>Foot Locker was a subsidiary of Woolworths from way back in the 80s or earlier.
