\nWhen I was a kid, we didn’t have dollar stores – at least not that I knew of. Today, they are all around here, and I couldn’t be happier about it. They have so many things you might need, so affordably. Moreover, you can learn as much in an hour at the dollar store as just about anywhere else.<\/p>\n
\nLast night I was there to pick up a usb c-to-a adapter, since a few people I want to share a file with don’t have USB C ports on their computers. There are numerous other ways to share those files – a topic I plan to revisit.<\/p>\n
\nIn my opinion, a dollar store is a great resource for getting the “bottom line” on what something costs to make. For instance, there were cans of brand-name beans there – the kind people might have for lunch with toast – for $1.25. There were also condiments like mustard. However, I didn’t see any mayonnaise, which suggests to me that a reasonable portion of mayonnaise might be worth more than a dollar store price. Wire cutters, however, aren’t.<\/p>\n
\nI mentioned to my wife that it was interesting to me that although they had the usb c-to-a adapter, they didn’t have “little” memory sticks.<\/p>\n
\n“What do you mean?” she asked.<\/p>\n
“Just maybe ones that have the type A plug-in but are only one or two gigs. That would make sharing large files between computers easy, and you’d never need the USB drive back.”<\/p>\n
She looked at me. “One gig memory sticks are probably still too expensive to have here,” she observed.<\/p>\n
\nWe bought some dish gloves, some reading glasses, the adapter, and a few other things. The adapter had been the only thing we planned to get that trip.
