\nI don’t drive every day; it’s not something I look forward to. I know many people do – probably most – which is good for them: in this society, people expect you to. I will admit that, once I actually am driving, I like it better than thinking about it.<\/p>\n
\nWhen I do have to drive somewhere, I think a lot about the route to take. Even if it’s a place I often go as a passenger, I might not drive there the same way others do. Moreover, route choice is fluid, based sometimes on conditions that might seem subtle.<\/p>\n
\nOne determining factor in route choice, for me, is controlled intersections. When I think traffic might be chaotic, I tend to choose controlled intersections, even if it might add time.<\/p>\n
After around 10pm, I don’t worry nearly so much about the route. Sometimes, then, it’s fun to drive through a deserted roadway that I would have avoided only five hours earlier.
