\nBack when I lived on the base in PEI, when I was 8, there were two boys who lived beside us: let’s call them Bob and Hank (which weren’t their names). Bob was 9, while Hank was 12.<\/p>\n
\nBoth of Bob and Hank’s parents worked, so Hank was offered to do a lot of the housework, cooking, etc, for himself and Bob. Therefore, he got a daily allowance as well as a weekly one. Hank became quite focussed on money, even at age 12. For instance, when he would bring bottles to get the money for them, he loved doing it, then counting the money afterwards.<\/p>\n
\nHank was the first kid I knew who came to the conclusion that “time is money.” Soon, he became quite self-important: since he made more money than we did, his time was worth more. He came to be always in a hurry.<\/p>\n
\nOne time, when Hank, Bob and I were walking, Hank said, “Hurry up, guys. If I was a turtle, you’d be no match for me.” This was quite funny, partly because Hank seldom wasted his effort making jokes.
