\nWe have an 07 vehicle that started to complain about the gas cap. I though it might just be loose, so tightened it. The car continued to complain. I researched the situation and, indeed, one might need to change the gas cap to pacify the car. Modern cars can tell if the gas cap isn’t sealing properly, and may complain about it in a few different ways. The message “gas cap” flashing on the odometer is one; the engine light turning on can be another.<\/p>\n
\nI guess one might end up having to change the gas cap around every 50,000 miles (80,000 km). I changed it and the complaint went away.<\/p>\n
