\nUS economic complexity is 14th in the world; Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) is 3rd. How the Americans let this happen might boggle one’s mind, if one cares to think about it. Most apparently don’t.<\/p>\n
\nNow, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. wants to produce chips in Arizona, but warns that may be delayed because of a lack of skilled workers available there. This might hardly be surprising; at home, in a country of around 24 million people, Taiwan can apparently count on a more highly developed work force: once again, its economic complexity is 3rd worldwide, vs 14th for the US.<\/p>\n
\nThe US used to import talent from all over the world to keep its global edge. Perhaps it needs to continue doing so.<\/p>\n
