\nWordPress is very popular as an information platform on the World Wide Web: perhaps over 40% of all websites use it. It makes sense, therefore, that people are curious how to maintain a WordPress site, back it up, etc.<\/p>\n
\nOne issue that comes up is migration. What if someone wants to move their WordPress installation, then re-install it elsewhere in such a way that a browser doesn’t notice? In an emergency situation, such action could be necessary.<\/p>\n
\nOne can execute such a feat using one or more plugins, perhaps, but I wouldn’t. I’m sure most plugins work, most of the time. However, my experience is that when a plugin fails, it may do so in a spectacular way. Therefore, I don’t typically use them to solve technical challenges, although I admit that it seems a lot of people do.<\/p>\n
\nI found, on YouTube: Saad Jee Tabassam<\/a>, this how-to video for WordPress migration without a plugin, and it seems solid to me. I followed his instructions to rebuild a WordPress installation at a test site, which was a success. I had to adjust some of the instructions a bit because my installation seems to be different from the one in the video.
