Its motivation is generally grounded in one or more goals:<\/p>\n<ol><li>Replacing a detrimental gene with a beneficial one.<\/li>\n<li>De-activating a harmful gene.<\/li>\n<li>Installing a gene that will be beneficial.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\nOne way to accomplish gene therapy is to use a virus, since viruses are able to impart DNA to cells.
