\nA passkey, as I understand, is part of a two-part code that enables authentication. The institution has their side, and the client, theirs. Only the combination of both parts, which are different, completes an authentication.<\/p>\n
\nAlthough passkeys work on a mathematical basis, it can perhaps be understood from a non-math example. Let’s imagine someone puts up, on a billboard, “Joe Hatfield’s DOB is?” Joe Hatfield is a fictional character you and a friend invented in college. Only you know Joe Hatfield’s birthday is June 35, 1931. You log into the advertised site and fill in that info. Now, your friend knows it’s you.<\/p>\n
\nThe idea of a public question for which only the intended person has the answer is perhaps the main idea of the passkey concept.<\/p>\n
