The tutor mentions a lesser, yet still important, one.<\/h2>\n<p>\nThere are five known mass extinctions recorded during Earth&#8217;s existence; the Pleistocene isn&#8217;t one, but a &#8220;lesser&#8221; extinction. It led to the end of such large mammals as the woolly mammoth, sabre-toothed cat, giant ground sloth, North American camel, and others. It seemed to target, in particular, large mammals.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Pleistocene extinction mainly happened 12 000 to 10 000 years ago.
