On the version I use, it&#8217;s in the top left corner. It&#8217;s a great feature, and easy to use.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe format painter is used to apply a selected format elsewhere. To do so, one selects the part with the desired format, clicks the format painter, then selects the part desired to be formatted the same way.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe format painter I find very helpful, especially for such things as applying hanging indents to multiple entries in a References list at the end of a paper.<\/p>\n<p>\nIn my experience, one can chain the use of the format painter: Once it&#8217;s been used to transform a selection to the desired formatting, that selection can become a source of formatting for the next one.
