I will admit I was somewhat surprised.<\/p>\n<p>\nApparently, the carbon tax isn&#8217;t kept by the federal government; it&#8217;s collected at the provincial level, then returned to its province of origin. Therefore, it truly is a redistribution, theoretically. Moreover, if one doesn&#8217;t approve of the carbon tax, they may want to look at what their home province does with the proceeds.<\/p>\n<p>\nOne strength of the carbon tax is that it&#8217;s a consumption tax, meaning one can reduce how much of it one pays by making lifestyle choices.
