My motivation was two-fold: weight loss but also reducing arterial plaque.<\/p>\n<p>\nI don&#8217;t have reason to believe I particularly have a lot of arterial plaque, but I&#8217;ve eaten a lot of meat and cheese in my lifetime, so I guess it&#8217;s possible. However, I did need to reverse my weight gain.<\/p>\n<p>\nAs I understand, the concept of a low-fat vegan diet is that the foods allowed aren&#8217;t calorie-dense enough to promote weight gain. Moreover, the low fat intake, with no animal fats, will prevent further plaque build-up in the arteries. Once again, that&#8217;s my understanding.<\/p>\n<p>\nI&#8217;m not trying to restrict how much I eat on this new diet. Nonetheless, I&#8217;ve lost around nine pounds, so far.<\/p>\n<p>\nI definitely get cravings for foods I no longer allow myself to eat. However, I doubt it&#8217;s possible to lose weight without getting cravings.<\/p>\n<p>\nGenerally, I&#8217;d say, I feel better since starting this low-fat vegan diet.
