\nI can’t recall seeing rove beetles in the Maritimes, and usually don’t see them out here. The ones I’ve seen have a long, black abdomen, with obvious segmenting, that extends far back from the legs. They usually walk quickly and deliberately across the ground, from one area of cover to another. I don’t think I’ve seen one in a building; where I do see them is crossing a cement driveway or walkway.<\/p>\n
\nApparently, rove beetles are beneficial: they eat pests, including mosquito larvae and aphids.<\/p>\n
\nThis morning I’ve seen three rove beetles, each at a separate time.<\/p>\n
