When I do, I notice plants abundant there, but not in my neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>\nA few days back, visiting the seashore, I noticed a plant I&#8217;ve seen many times before, but never looked up. It turns out to be entire-leaved gumweed, of the Aster family. Most telling were the spikes (called involucral bracts, apparently), covered with sticky resin, around and beneath the flower heads. The flowers themselves were yellow, rather like small sunflowers.
