\nAs I understand, the disadvantage of drum brakes is that they can fade after several applications or during long-term braking, while disc brakes don’t. However, as Uncle Tony (I assume) seems to imply in this video<\/a>, normal driving wouldn’t likely lead to brakes fading. Rather, the most likely scenario that would cause the brakes to fade would be repeated panic stops from high speed. Therefore, for that driving style, disc brakes are likely better. Also, for mountain descent, disc brakes might be superior as well.<\/p>\n \nOn the other hand, drum brakes have the advantage that they offer more surface area for the braking process.
