\nPope Leo XIV is from Chicago – not typical among Popes. Moreover, Popes don’t seem to make the news very often these days. However, Pope Leo XIV recently did.<\/p>\n
\nRegardless of the turmoil they might be in right now, Americans tend bring a unique perspective. At their best, they have a common-sense way of simplifying things, without the same deference for legacy and\/or institutional complication that others might have.<\/p>\n
\nPope Leo XIV, in a short news clip, seems to relate the following:<\/p>\n
Someone who says “I’m against abortion,” but says “I’m in favor of the death penalty,” is not really pro-life. Someone who says that “I’m against abortion but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States,” I don’t know if that’s pro-life. – Pope Leo XIV<\/blockquote>\n\nIn a couple of sentences, this Pope from Chicago, with a mix of politics, religion, and even philosophy, seems to vaporize the difference between the issues of abortion, the death penalty, and treatment of immigrants. Did we hear this from anyone else on the world stage?<\/p>\n
