It’s never complained, and started up by the third pull every time – usually on the first pull. This year, however, it’s periodically revving up and down. While it still cuts the lawn effectively, I realize I shouldn’t ignore the change.

It turns out this problem might be called “surging,” or “hunting.” It seems some possible causes of it are a dirty fuel filter or else a dirty carburetor. There can be other potential reasons, but I’ll try those two first. Except check the oil, I’ve done no maintenance on this mower since I bought it; it’s likely due for some attention.

Just how I check, clean, etc., the fuel filter and/or carburetor, I hope to cover in coming posts:)

Source:

shrewsburysmallenginerepairs.co.uk

Jack of Oracle Tutoring by Jack and Diane, Campbell River, BC.

Self-tutoring about lawn mower maintenance: the tutor begins about a new problem.
