\nI bought a lawn mower with a four-stroke Briggs and Stratton motor over ten years ago. It’s never complained, and started up by the third pull every time – usually on the first pull. This year, however, it’s periodically revving up and down. While it still cuts the lawn effectively, I realize I shouldn’t ignore the change.<\/p>\n
\nIt turns out this problem might be called “surging,” or “hunting.” It seems some possible causes of it are a dirty fuel filter or else a dirty carburetor. There can be other potential reasons, but I’ll try those two first. Except check the oil, I’ve done no maintenance on this mower since I bought it; it’s likely due for some attention.<\/p>\n
