\nIn this climate, at this time of year, we get a lot of rain, fog, etc: the opposite of conditions for good visibility while driving. Therefore, anything one can do to improve driving visibility can help out a lot.<\/p>\n
To that end, I bought new wiper blades for the cars (my wife’s and my son’s – I don’t have a car) earlier this season. With my wife’s car, the changeover was what one might hope; I don’t recall any hang-ups. I hoped the same for my son’s car; instead, it was a little less straightforward.<\/p>\n
\nI mention in my post from Dec 11, 2019<\/a> about changing a wiper blade. This situation with my son’s car had echoes of that one, though perhaps not the same. The problem, this time, was the instructions that came with the new blades: they just weren’t detailed enough to enable the installation, from my point of view.<\/p>\n \nWhat the instructions seemed not to mention was that there are two tabs that stick out either side of the adapter latch, into cutouts, to keep the latch closed. This is all fine, but one needs to push those tabs in from the sides in order to open the adaptor latch. However, one can’t even see those tabs as the wiper presents out of the packaging; instead, one needs to pivot the adaptor in order to see them. Another option is to pop the adaptor off from the round shaft it’s mounted on, which happened to me by accident with the second wiper blade.<\/p>\n \nEither way, once one can see those tabs, one can pinch them inwards, perhaps with a pair of tweezers. Then, the adaptor latch opens, and from there the installation is easy.<\/p>\n \nThese wipers are Napa NeoForm Premium Beam ones. I have confidence they will be very good. The installation I just found a bit less straightforward than with some other wiper blades.
