\nI mention, most recently in my post from November 19,<\/a> a four-stroke lawn mower that, after around eleven years of steady, uncomplaining service, started surging late this past season. Surging – aka hunting – can happen for a few reasons; in this case it seems to have been due to a clogged air filter.<\/p>\n \nAfter washing the air filter with soapy water, rinsing it, then letting it dry, I re-oiled it and re-installed it. Then, I started the mower; once it was warm, I removed the air filter cover and sprayed some carb cleaner into the carburetor. After replacing the cover, I proceeded to mow the lawn, which perhaps took another twelve minutes or so.
