\nIn yesterday’s post<\/a> I begin about DVI, a port for which I encountered on the back of a smart TV. Yet, it seems that DVI was most prominent 2002-2012. I wondered: Why did I not know of it before?<\/p>\n \nI checked the two standalone monitors we have on hand. One, it turns out, has a DVI port as well as a VGA one; the other, just a VGA port. However, even the one with both DVI and VGA has a VGA connector hanging from it. Said monitor isn’t in use right now, since the tower it was connected to has been recycled. (That’s another story.)<\/p>\n I looked up the years those two models of monitors came out. Both were from 2006-2008. While I know we haven’t bought a monitor for some time, I didn’t realize how old those were.<\/p>\n \nTherefore, it seems that I bypassed the DVI trend. Although I’ve assembled and disassembled many computer systems, I can only recall the familiar blue VGA connector. Recently I recycled several towers; did some of those have DVI ports on the back that went unused?
