\nI recall, when I was a kid, being in a setting where we were separated into groups, given a diagram and a length of rope, and told to tie a square knot. My group couldn’t figure it out. I might have been around eight at the time.<\/p>\n
\nI’ve returned to the idea of a square knot numerous times since. Today I finally realized what I was failing to see before, and confidently tied one, thank God.\n<\/p>\n
\nOver the years I’ve heard people say right over left, then left over right. It seems to me, however, that right over left, then right under left, then loop each side back around, then left over right, then left under right, might be a helpful way to see it.<\/p>\n
