\nThe following is according to my understanding.<\/p>\n
\nSometimes, an amateur botanist might want to classify a given plant – especially if it’s one of two different species very similar. In such a case, details matter.<\/p>\n
\nYet, when one tries to research the details, one might be deluged with botanical terms, each of which needs to be looked up on its own in order to understand the situation. Soon, the original objective, which was discovering which plant one is looking at, may be hopelessly lost.<\/p>\n
\nThis morning, such a situation nearly befell me, until I found clarity, as follows:\n<\/p>\n
\nPedicel: the stalk that supports a flower from the main stem.<\/p>\n
\nRaceme: a central stem with individual flowers growing off it, each on its own pedicel.<\/p>\n
\nPanicle: a cluster of racemes.<\/p>\n
