Some years it was pretty thin in places, but now it’s hard to see through, and taller than I am. Yet, what is it?

I’ve researched said bush a few times by description, but never narrowed it down to an answer. However, yesterday I noticed something that seems to have made a difference.

I was mowing the lawn yesterday, so went past the hedge. I noticed how many bees were there to visit its white flowers. It produces a lot of those white flowers, but they are quite small, so not very showy. Nonetheless, the bees seem to love them.

Today I added that bees love the bush’s white flowers to my research description, and an answer came back that I believe to be the right one: privet.

I guess there are dozens of kinds of privet and generally it grows pretty easily. It’s from the olive family, which makes sense to me based on its branches and leaves.

Source:

gardendesign.com

Jack of Oracle Tutoring by Jack and Diane, Campbell River, BC.

Self-tutoring about common yard bushes: the tutor mentions privet.
