\nThe following is my understanding.<\/p>\n
\n\nNearly thirty years ago a friend of mine mentioned Englishman River Falls, and that it was a special place he liked to visit. I took it under advisement, but never followed up, until recently.\n<\/p>\n
\nEnglishman River Falls has an impressive waterfall that pours into a gorge; the water disappears among the rocky cliffs. Then, as one continues along the trail, one emerges to where one can see the deep, clear pool that collects the water from the falls. Between the falls and the pool, the trail moves through a classic west coast environ, with some very tall trees, along the side of a hill. Besides the usual conifers, one enters a cluster of arbutus at one point. With mossy fallen trees and berry bushes, the forest trail really shows a quintessential west coast forest. Then, after a while, one reaches a bridge where one can look into the deep pool after the falls, and so on.<\/p>\n
\nAs if that weren’t enough, there is another trail whence one can exit the parking lot from the other end. Said other trail is described as a multi-use one, and one sees cyclists on it. However, on the multi-use trail, we were usually alone. Moreover, it’s mainly over level ground.<\/p>\n
\nFor hiking, bird watching, and seeing some picturesque west coast forest, besides an impressive waterfall into a gorge, Englishman River Falls is worth a visit, or perhaps more than one. It’s west of Parksville.<\/p>\n
