Tutoring English, it’s fun to share little definitions that expand on topics you thought were familiar. \u00a0The tutor shares a few about rhymes.<\/h1>\n

Most people know what a rhyme is:<\/p>\n

Don’t spread the lime<\/em>
\nUntil it’s time.<\/em><\/p>\n

This simple example is a case of end rhyme<\/strong>.<\/em> \u00a0Next, there’s internal rhyme<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

She told the date<\/em> and set us straight<\/em>:
\n“Set clocks back on the Second.”#see below<\/span><\/p>\n

So far, most people may not be surprised. \u00a0However, did you know there’s masculine rhyme<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

We called, it came<\/em>:
\nThe bird was tame<\/em>.<\/p>\n

With the masculine rhyme, only one syllable (the very end one) rhymes, whereas in feminine rhyme<\/strong>, two syllables sound the same:<\/p>\n

She didn’t fancy biking<\/em>;
\nShe did enjoy hiking<\/em>.<\/p>\n

There’s even beginning rhyme<\/strong>, with the syllables that agree at the front of each line:<\/p>\n

Bread<\/em> we have:
\nFed<\/em> they’ll be.<\/p>\n

Believe it or not, there’s still more about rhymes. \u00a0I’ve got a couple more definitions to run down; the sources don’t agree on them (so far). \u00a0However, I’ll keep you posted:)<\/p>\n
