Vocabulary: copacetic
Tutoring English, vocabulary is always interesting. The tutor mentions copacetic.
I first heard copacetic in the late 80s, on the west coast. I came to realize it meant “all right” or “as you’d hope.” I wondered whether it was slang or real. Yet, I heard it a lot from around 88 to 95.
Copacetic isn’t in every dictionary I checked, but it’s easy to find online. Some treat it like a legitimate word; others suggest it’s slang. I wouldn’t use it in a formal essay, but using it informally seems copacetic.
