Vocabulary: factitious

Tutoring English, vocabulary is always interesting. The tutor mentions factitious.

Factitious means invented, but meant to be real or believed even so. A person may be trying to get a business up and running; if they say it exists before it really does, you might think of it as being factitious. A person’s appreciation of something can also be factitious.
