Bird watching: varied thrush, continued
Self-tutoring about birds: the tutor is happy to announce that the varied thrush is back.
Especially this time of year, the varied thrush is recognizable by its song: a long single note that might continue for five seconds of more. Seemingly, it’s easiest to notice in the morning, and happens more on bright mornings in early spring. Right now it’s -7°C, but that doesn’t deter the unflappable varied thrush.
I noticed it may eat acorns, so I threw some onto the lawn that I raked from it last fall. Hopefully that will help some birds on this cold, early spring morning on Vancouver Island.
