Humour: lost and found

Self-tutoring about humour: the tutor mentions a situation.

I’m new where I work. Yesterday someone asked me if an accumulation of hats, running shoes, hoodies, etc, outside an office, was the Lost and Found. I told them it was an excellent question, but I didn’t know. I flagged down someone who’d been there longer.

They said they didn’t know either, but thought it was. A discussion began, which even other authorities joined. I left on my way somewhere.

By end of day, that assortment of clothes, etc, was much smaller: perhaps it was the Lost and Found, but nobody knew, so hadn’t (until yesterday) realized they had the right to claim the articles that so closely resembled their lost ones.
