Self-tutoring about customs: the tutor mentions two points of view about reminders.
I’ve encountered a few people who don’t like being reminded about things. “Don’t you get that I already know about that?” “Of course I know what time it is….” are some replies I get when I might remind them of something. They take it personally, like a judgement; I don’t mean it that way.
In my experience, nowadays, most people expect to be reminded of what’s expected of them.
I do recall when people were habitually proactive. However, that does seem long ago. Hence, professional offices tend to send reminder emails/calls one or two days before an appointment.
