News: labour negotiation in Quebec (education, health, and social services)
Self-tutoring about news and politics: the tutor follows labour negotiations in Quebec.
I’ve read and listened to all this in French, so what follows is my best understanding.
There is a serious situation in Quebec right now. It seems that several unions, representing teachers and education staff, health care workers, and social service workers, are watching some negotiations that continued through last night and have yielded some hopeful signs.
Yet, if said negotiations aren’t successful, one consequence could be a strike by 95% of 420 000 workers in Quebec from education, social services, and health care, in January 2024.
Earlier this week, things didn’t always seems so hopeful as now. Read here for some ideas of what transpired Tuesday and Wednesday.
Let’s hope for the best for those workers.
