Biology: biogeography and evolution, part 1

Tutoring biology, biogeography comes up. The tutor mentions its connection with evolution.

In biogeography, biologists observe and theorize about where species are found and why. For instance, the fact that kangaroos are only found in Australasia is a question for biogeography.

Biogeography has become an important source of ideas about evolution. For instance, Darwin’s observation of the different kinds of finches on the Galapagos Islands, which he theorized were descended from a single species, is a case of biogeography.
