Canadian business: Canada Post, part 2: Canada Post and Purolator
Self-tutoring about Canada Post: the tutor mentions the interesting connection with Purolator.
The following is according to my understanding.
I was watching a CBC video about a tentative agreement – see it here – which hopefully ends the labour dispute at Canada Post. During the video, Mark Lubinski, President of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), Toronto local, is interviewed. He discusses optimistically the tentative deal, as well as mentioning some concerns of the CUPW.
It seems, at one point, Lubinski mentions something like “Purolator…our competition…which is owned by Canada Post.” This surprised me, so I looked it up. Indeed, believe it or not, Canada Post owns 91 percent of Purolator.
Purolator, it seems, is also union, but represented by a different one.
Interesting, eh?
