Computer skills: screenshot with Firefox

Self-tutoring about everyday computer skills: the tutor mentions taking a screenshot with Firefox.

The following is according to my understanding.

Yesterday I needed to send a report, accessed online, to a help desk.

In my experience, pictures matter in such cases. While it would have been easy to just tell, in the help request, what the report said, the techs seem to like screenshots. I guess it makes sense: the tech wants to be sure the correspondent is explaining the situation correctly.

I use numerous computers, with a few different operating systems, etc. In this case it was Linux, with Firefox. (I mention, for instance, how to get a screenshot in Edge, in my post on August 28, 2024.) Yet, it’s been awhile since I took a screenshot in the context of Firefox, so I wasn’t sure, that instant, how to proceed.

I checked around and discovered it’s easier than I thought in such a case. To get a screenshot with Firefox, it seems one can do the following:

  1. Mouse over to a non-interactive part of the web page.
  2. Right click there.
  3. A small menu will appear: one of its options will be Take Screenshot.
  4. Clicking the Take Screenshot option, one will then be offered the choice of visible area, full page, or to select an area.
  5. After one has chosen which option, the screenshot will appear, with an offer to Download it or Copy it.

Neat, eh?
