Lifestyle: how long does a couch last?

Self-tutoring about furniture: the tutor wonders about a statistic.

About six months ago my wife asked me what I thought about replacing our couch downstairs. It’s a budget couch, to be sure, on which we got a good deal. Today, vacuuming it, I could see its age showing. I think we got it back in 2014 or 2015.

So, how long does a couch last? AI, at the jump, tells me seven to fifteen years. Yet, I found a more detailed breakdown, based on quality, at hernest.com. (Btw: what a great name for a furniture store:)

Apparently, a budget couch might last only three to five years; mid-range, maybe seven to twelve. It seems, therefore, that our budget couch has served us pretty well.

Interesting, eh?
