Chemistry: Gibbs Free Energy, part0

Tutoring university chemistry, Gibbs Free Energy can be an important concept. The tutor begins about it.

The following is by my understanding.

Gibbs free energy, of just Gibbs energy, is defined as

G = H -TS

where G=Gibbs free energy, H=enthalpy, T=absolute temperature, and S=entropy.

Gibbs free energy can also be referred to as Gibbs energy.

Gibbs free energy, conceptually, displays the idea of how enthalpy and entropy affect chemical potential energy. Note that the Gibbs energy increases with enthalpy, but decreases proportionally to the product of its temperature and entropy.

If the change in Gibbs energy resulting from a reaction is negative, the reaction with be spontaneous. This makes sense, since the tendency of nature is to decrease potential energy.
